Other: Foot Rub

I wear shoes with soles when kayaking and I get wear spots below my heels. I put in a decent number of miles in and I just go over it with epoxy/fg-cloth from time-to-time, but was wondering if people have a better way that lasts longer.

I've thought about using different additives but I can't decide if it makes more sense to have a smooth or grippy finish (or if it even matters).
