In Response To: Final Sanding Survey (Chris Casazza)

: I am in the final sanding stages of my Outer Island and was wondering what
: grit sandpaper do people generally go to before varnishing. I noticed
: Green Valley Boats states on their varnishing page not to go finer than
: 120 grit paper. Other builders sometimes wet sand to 300 grit. Is this
: necessary. Any opinions?

I went to 150 on my SO's Merganser and 220 on my Chessapeake 18. No reason for the change beside immediate availability of ROS disks. No obvious change in finish either.
