Ross, very nice, very innovative, and great pictures. The simplicity of it is what makes it so nice -- no pulleys, cleats, tubes, or other contraptions to deal with. It looks like the edge of your hatch openings are built up and that is why you get such good compression on the hatch gasket. My hatch just fits flush to the deck (neither hatch nor opening have a lip on them), so I'm wondering if I'd get as good a fit with my configuration as you did. Maybe I'll just have to try it out! Thanks for sharing. It looks like a lot of us were waiting to see those pictures.
