I would agree with Mr. Lange that the fit of your Kayak is of the utmost importance when trying to roll a kayak. A loose boat does not allow you to set up properly and hinders even the best hip snap. Think of two cars one with very tight steering one very loose. one gives you a very good feel for the roa the other is sloppy and takes more effort to turn the car and keep it straight.

I do have to say though after several years of whitewater boating that a WW boat hands down rolls easier however if you haven't rolled either you have no point of reference and this should not be a big concern. What to keep in mind is that sea kayaks can be rolled with not too much difficulty and that should be your goal.

I do agree also that a good instructor will save you a lot of time and hopefully help you avoid learing bad habits. There is no substitution for good technique which makes it both safer and easier. It is very easy to dislocate a shoulder, in fact about ten pounds of pressure. So fit that boat correctly get into a rolling class and practice a lot!
