The guys on this site are rarely wrong with advise given but maybe there is another viewpoint worth considering before you make your final decision. There are days after a big day out or just feeling a bit off colour usually on the way home when the ability to drop a skeg or a rudder to help out with conditions is a very welcome thing! Personally I can't see myself building another boat without a skeg.
