Greg: I have been to the BWCA about 10 times, although not real recently. One of my favorite places is to put in on lake one near Kawishawi Lodge (I think it is still there), and paddle around in that area. You say there are 2 of you, both guys, or a gal. Makes a difference, especialy when portaging. Also they do not allow any wheeled portaging aids, all carry the boat. How big are the kayaks, and canoe? I have stayed at Kawishawi lodge before and just gone from there on day trips which was fun with an inexperienced girl friend. Lots of ways to go up there. Do lots of homework and get permits early. I never go before labor day, but that may not be an option for you. Fewer people, fewer bugs, cold nites and warm days. Good luck. JR
