I've spent lots of time sailing bigger Hobies, suspect the quality will be excellent on this one too, and the aerodynamics should be excellent too. I'm thinking, without going to look (bad idea ) that the Hobie's sail has a method to furl it, perhaps they wrap the sail around the mast? Depends on which way the battens fit to the sail.

For bad weather I've always just left the water when it gets bad. Can't really go long distances with these rigs so furling the sail wasn't really an issue.

I'll be setting mine up with a tripod style support (like ET's stand up tri), done right should be fairly easy to drop the sail and the mast as a unit, though paddling with a 14' mast laying in my lap may prove interesting .
