Hi John, I've seen photos of that A-frame rig in a sailing magazine a while back, interesting.
There's another single sail rig called a Delta rig, designed by Claud Bowden. the mast is shaped like the boom of a windsurfer and rotates at the foot, the sail is fan-like. It's based off the Chinese junk rig but reminds me of a fully battened lateen with a boons at the foot of the sail.
