: Hi Et,
: Thanks, yes makes perfect sense. While I am at best a beginner windsurfer
: I've got really good friends that have spent decades sailing them and got
: really good at it, up to the point where they got old enough they had to
: give it up, though only a couple years ago. I've many times tried learning
: on their tiny boards, so what I really did was swim around the boards alot
:
: I've also sailed multihulls for years, still own a couple old SolCats, kind
: of the predecessor to the Nacra cats. And you never sail a multi directly
: downwind unless you just like going slow
: The sails I've got are old style but not grossly low aspect. Certainly not
: like the modern windsurfing sails. This is all an experiment, fun one. If
: it works well, then I'll look around for more a more modern rig for it
: Your tri helps this project alot, thanks
: Bill H.
Hi Bill,
Downwind in a multihull is a good way to go slow, alright. Downwind 'tacking' beats it, though. It brings the apparent wind right forward, tricky to hold it there. At least, it works ok in bigger cats, a lighter cat should do better.
One realy nice thing, is that cats don't wallow when running. Less likely to spill your coffee.
