: hello everyone I hope all is well.
: Ive seen a few posts on decorating Boats and seen some photos. what
: in everyones opinions is the most secure method of decorating a
: S&G boat.
: I understand the epoxy problem and have read about plenty of inlays
: de laminating lifting ...
: 1) wood onlays/inlays
: 2) paper decal can it be painted with watercolors?? or only printed
: with waterproof ink??
: 3) wood burning seems to be a good though time consuming option!!!
: Im pondering this option
: 4) paint design right over final finish
: 5) good artist with sharpies right on boat (bleed??)
: your thoughts please Im just planning what to do
: seems like S&G boats need somthing to spruce them up a bit.
: many thanks

I personally prefer wood burning, if you have the right burner. Cheap ones from the arts and crafts store don't do an adequate job. I used an Optima 1 Dual burner with 3 different tips: a round skew, a spear point shader and a ball tip. The ball tip is great for some of the shading. Here is a picture of the Osprey I burned into my wife's kayak. Note: Burn before any epoxying or fiberglassing, except for the seams.
