I live near the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta and the closest paddling location is on a flatwater section behind a small dam. A number of rowing clubs paddle there due to the flatwater and I'm often among them. I would see a kayak built with open cockpit as a nice way to enjoy this flatwater and to be able to stretch my legs, hang them over the side and carry a small cooler that would be in easy reach. Using a nice kayak hull, it would be efficient for covering some distance while getting some exercise. Could also use a craft made this way for fishing salt marshes on the GA coast.

I'm not thinking about carrying 2 people or my dog. Just thinking that the open cockpit would be enviting while on smooth water....
