Thanks much for your thoughts raising the deck a bit. When I lofted the plans from Nicks book, I kept the shear the same on all forms but on the forms where I wanted the deck raised, did the following.....

* Imagine a horizontal line across the form at the shear; cut along the line separating the deck portion from the hull portion.
* Then add 1" verticle between the deck and hull portions, tape back together and smooth the curve back to the original shear.
* Do the same for each form fore and aft decreasing the the rise by 1/4" until you are back to the original design height.

I think I'll look into customizing some footing using the angles from Nicks design....
