Just curious but wouldn't moving the seat fwd potenitally play havoc with the balance of the boat? Moving the seat fwd will put put your weight fwd which will cause the boat to be lower in the water in the bow and, subsequently, higher in stern. This could greatly increase the boat's tendency to weathercock. This, of course, depends greatly on the hull design of the boat. I shifted the seat of my Boreal Design Baffin aft 2" because I needed more leg room. This affected the handling of the boat. It tracked great with more stern "bite" in the water but it did not turn as quick as it used to before the shift. I'm guessing you can add weight to counter balance this but isn't nice to have a well balanced boat to begin with?

I may be way out to lunch on this an stand to be corrected.
