Just did a test using the circular saw with a 2' guide - worked like a charm on the 8' lengths!. Noisy and dusty but I guess I can live with it (clean up after it). 12' planks should be no less a problem!!! I may just go with this method!!

Yes, from what I understand the wood is just something to wrap the glass/epoxy around so joins in the wood are insignificant - unless they affect the shape of the hull!! This boat will have no "artistry", i.e., patterns in the wood, but rather a good strong build that will be covered by a generous coat of suitable paint!! Staple holes, mismatched grains etc are of no significance!!
