I did some poking about and while I could not find any definite weights on the manufacturers' website I did find refernece to shipping weights:

10" (inside diamter) Bomar /w lock has a shipping weight of 13.6 oz
8" (inside diameter) Beckson / pry out has an actual weight of 15.2 with a shipping weight of 16 oz.

This is somewhat consistent with the findings of Dan Caouette who, in another psoting in this fourm, said that a "8" Bomar non-locking pryout (complete with rim and lid) = 11.4 oz. 8" screw-in Beckson = 14.6oz

It appears that the Becksons are inherently heavier than the Bomars.

From the pictures I've seen of the Bomars, the latch/locking mechanism is all that really hangs lower then the rest of the hatch. If such is the case, I'm not that concerned about it protruding into the hull. These are being used on a Black Pearl and I don't plan on cramming much gear into it anyway.

Also, I can get the Bomars for the same price or cheaper than the Becksons.
