: I painted my 'cheater rolling boat' - even with light-coloured
: paint and a fair bit of orange peel, sanding scratches show
: through.
: The two-part paints I've used put on a pretty thin film, and don't
: hide much.
: *Be sure to get a good clean fair line at the chines and sheer, as

: I should have used the long board more, and re-applied fairing
: compound to get that right, but I was in a hurry and not very
: concerned about cosmetics.
: Thanks for the blog and pics. I gotta get busy in the shop!
I've just finished off working on the chines. I spent a fair bit of time casting my eye down the transition, taking out any variations in the radius. It certainly looks a lot better than when I started. I made long sanding block with the appropriate radius and ran it up and down the chines until they all had the same shape. What a difference that made!! I've been using fairing compound as well and things are looking good. I can't wait to paint the hull - the motley look of the fairing compound makes it hard to get a good view of the final hull shape - it's too distracting, almost like a camo scheme!!
