Here being St. John's, Newfoundland. Interlux Brightsides is the "paint of choice" with the marine supplier's round here. I used it on my S&G but am looking for other options.

Just curious but what are the disdvantages of using something like an acrylic paint? My boat has two layers of 6oz glass on the bottom of the hull so I'm thinking that the coat of paint is not going to offer any more impact resistance. I know that paint will offer some abrasion resistance but how much more from a polyurethane over an acrylic? While the paint may abrade, how much protection is provided for the epoxy coating below? I'm wondering if we are dealing in "theoretical" differences or are there big benefits of going with a tougher paint.
