Clayton: I'm intrigued by your review of the maneuverability of the Disko Bay. I built this very boat last Summer using Dave Gentry's plans and mine tracks like a train but turns like one as well. And when it does react to the lean, it edges towards the lean and not away from it as you would expect. The only thing different from mine and Dave's plan is that my keel flattened out about 1/8 when I took it off the strong back. Otherwise, it's as per normal. Could that 1/8" make that much difference?

I thought it was just me being too heavy for the boat (195lbs) but I've had very some lightweight paddlers (150 lb) in it as well and all had came to the same conclusions - rolls like a dream, tracks dead on but does not want to turn!!

Still, a very nice looking boat - and easy to build as well. I'm certainly glad to hear that your boat is working out for you.

It's a great pool boat, though. Nice and light for dragging around in the winter months and great for rolling. In the meantime, because it did not handle as well as I had hoped, I decided to try something else and I'm now half way through my Black Pearl.
