: I can see this being a problem if you were using the polyester
: strictly as an adhesive to hold something like a footbrace in
: place - the stress on a footbrace is incredible. But in the case
: of the fitting, it really only acts as a filler. There's no
: lateral movement or stress on the poly "blob" - other
: than trying to be pulled through the deck. Also, I sanded the
: epoxy - which was the first fill coat on the glass so it was
: already pretty rough. I couldn't even chisel the poly of the
: resin after it cured. I feel pretty good about this holding up.

Wouldn't this work making your own version of 'bondo' with epoxy and fiberglass fibers?
