: Do you guys typically build the coaming riser and lip before or
: after glassing a deck?
: I've found it being done both ways. Is one easier, or have any
: advantage, over the other?
: Was thinking I'd do some deck glassing in the next week or two
: (supposed to warm up a little).
: Then it dawned on me that maybe I should do the coaming first..
: Any advice appreciated as always :)
I did this just last week. I glassed the inside of the deck. Then I built the riser out of wood strips and trimmed it to the underside of the deck. I attached the deck to the hull (via a sheerclamp). I trimmed the riser to height and built the lip from a glass layup. When the lip was finished, I glassed the top of the deck and let the glass extend down over the hull for a extra strength to the deck/hull join.

Just my two cents,
