I'm doing the final sanding on my boat now and will be painting it gloss black, so I can certainly appreciate the need for the best painting surface possible. How much do the primers will any imperfections? Are they pretty thick in comparison to the paint? I had to use a skim coat on the hull and, like you said, the epoxy takes longer to cure - which was a paint in the rump!! I guess the primer will show up the imperfections better than clear epoxy so you can get a better idea of how the surface looks?
