: I used a fixed skeg (about 30 cms long, maybe a cm deep) last
: summer - definitely stopped weathercocking but I did lose
: maneuverability. For this summer I've stripped the boat (S&G NH)
: to put on lighter fiberglass on the exterior and I've just got a
: new kajaksport skeg from Newfound Woodworks -
: http://www.newfound.com/kayakacc.htm . I'm in NZ but the
: shipping was only a couple of weeks (if that).
I am in the process of retro-fitting a kajaksport skeg in my S& G Point Bennett. I prepped the ABS plastic before running a fillet of thickened epoxy around it. Prepped means applying heat, sanding and cleaning with alcohol. The only way this thing is coming free is if you ripp the bottom right out of the hull. I also used the flanged model.
Fitting the skeg was too easy!
