'Good to hear from you ....and thanks for the feedback- much appreciated. On the glass question: I went with the advice of another kayak builder here and picked up some 4 oz E glass from a supplier to surfboard makers. They could not supply S glass in the width I needed for the hull and deck (to avoid joins). I have been really happy with the glass in concert with West Resin and 207 hardener. You probably saw on the blog that I have used some carbon cloth in a few spots in the hull and will do the same for the underside of the deck.
