Strip: How to cut an oval cockpit

I am working on a cedar strip kayak with an irregular cockpit opening. Just came across these three You Tube videos on how to draw a perfect oval. Each video has a little something different to offer. Plan to draw this on paper, using picture hanging wire as it won't stretch, tape to the kayak and cut with a portable jig saw. Thought these would be links but they are not. Just cut and paste to browser. Will post with the results when I get the work done.
