looks very good - and nice coloration to that wood. Ya done good!

Gluing another piece on top of the 'thin strip' works great, esp. if it's from some of the original scraps. Doubt you'll be able to find it, when you're done

AFA affixing the bow/stern ends - for me, depends on how much curve I'm dealing with. Staples are fine - but if you're not wrestling with it too much, a simple clamp across the strips on each side, while the glue dries, works great.
