I also have a CLC West River 180, which I didn't mention because it needs re rigging and hasn't been used for a while, but it is also a very nice all rounder and fast cruising boat. I may refurbish it later this year.

Also the Eric Schade Shearwater 17 hybrid, which I mentioned previously, which gets a lot of use,

And the Nimrod 2, which is a 19 ft stripper designed by a guy named Daryl Graves three or four decades ago. It is an old design, but still a relevant boat in my fleet.

And my fat sissies' boat, which is also called a shearwater, but is a vintage design, also by Daryl Graves.

As well as a 14 ft tortured ply boat which I give to smaller folk and lightweights.

And the previously mentioned Houndstooth which I built for racing...

I have had others over the years, all vintage pre Internet designs, which I have given away or sold off for peanuts over the years, to make space for new boats.

I am currently starting a new project... (More on that later)... And I am planning another big sell off soon. Can't decide what to get rid of yet, but some will have to go if I want room for new ones.

In my youth the boats were rough and ready and all about getting onto the water cheaply and quickly. There was no CAD and there was only one real marine architect designing kayaks that I was aware of. Most of the old designs I tried dissapeared with the advent of the Internet. For most of them that was probably a good thing.

The crop of good designers we have available to us today is a real luxury. We can just keep building and never run out of new projects, almost all of which will result in a decent or interesting craft. The hardest decision is often 'which one shall I choose?'

Try telling that to the youngsters today though. They wouldn't believe you.

Oh, I also built a speed boat once, and a GP 14 dinghy, and my water-strider. I always come back to the kayaks though.
