Steve, I take no offense at "lurker" providing the definition is one who reads every single post on this forum in an attempt to increase one's kayak building knowledge.
You state that, "forums go stale with lack of participation." The Biplane forum is going on 11 years old, this forum is 19 years old. I see no hint that either is going stale. Those that want to participate do, those that don't want to don't. If it wasn't for the "lurkers" out there, there wouldn't be anyone for the teachers to teach.
You ask, "how many times can you read the same newbie questions . . . " I will go back to my teacher / classroom anology - every year that teacher gets a new class to teach the same subject and hears the same questions. She/he is a teacher, thats what they do.
I do have a few aviation stories, they go on the aviation forum.
This is one of those threads that is going nowhere and has the potential of exploding so I am finished with it.
