There are few similarities between the planes I build and kayaks.
Aircraft frames are welded 4130 steel tube. Wings are Spruce. They are engineered to withstand a minimum plus 6 to minus 3 times the force of gravity before anything starts to deform.
Coverings are similar as ceconite / dacron is used for the aircraft "skin" and can be used on SOF kayaks.
Ceconite is heat shrinkable and would have to be used with care on kayaks as you could easily crush the frame.
"No impacts to worry about" A misleading statement. Ceconite is only a synthetic fabric and is penetratable. The sharper the object the easier the penetration.
