In Response To: Deck and Hull joining problem (Stan Snapp)

: Hey Stan,
: My deck was 1/2" short, I just split the difference between the bow and
: stern and started taping the halves together. It seemed to stretch a
: little and I ended up with about an 1/8" gap to fill between the deck
: and end piece at both bow and stern.

That reminds me.

I assume you deck was not short when you stripped it. Have you done a test/tape fit of it?

The deck will not fit the hull perfectly until it's taped in place and could appear short when it will not be once in place. I'd suggest doing the test tape/fix as I recommend in the plans starting with the deck aligned with the hull stem at one end and see where the deck/hull stems end up. You should do this anyway to fit the hull/deck seam before final tape and glass.

If you deck is still short refer to my previous post on this subject.

It's so hard to talk about things you can't see.

All the best,

Rob Macks
