I did something similar to what's suggested at the Calif. kayak builders site, but I used a piece of 6mm plywood the length of the footbrace rail on each side. I mounted the Tee nuts in the plywood, epoxied the pieces to the hull; I fiberglassed the interior of the cockpit afterward so that this also helps hold the wood pieces in place. Dennis

: this method hasn't ever failed and the foot braces are esay to remove for
