Seal the inside with epoxy

In Response To: WoodenBoat Bird's Mouth Paddle Shaft *Pic* (Shawn B)

Just apply a thin coat to the inside of the strips and squeegee off the excess at the time that you're glueing up the shaft.

After that has cured, tape one end and stand the shaft on that end and fill it with epoxy and microballons to seal the end.

After that has cured, with the shaft almost horizontal, pour in the same amount of epoxy and microballons as the first side, tape up the other end and stand it up on that end.

The inside will be sealed from moisture.
