eliminate the need for weepholes

If the wood on the interior of the shaft is sealed with epoxy, then why bother sealing the ends of the shaft at all?

Slice into the ends of the shaft and shove in your blade. Fillet around it where it intersects the shaft, with thickened epoxy to hold it on.

And just leave the ends open.

When you stand up your paddle to store it any water inside will drain out. If you store your paddle flat the moisture will evaporate. If you tie the paddle to the roof of your car the wind will blow right through it. (If it whistles in the wind you can try to tune it like a musical instrument.)

A plug adds weight but probably does not add any structural strength, so why bother with it?
