Let's see...intuition tells me it twisted toward the bird's mouth on each piece. You tapered the flat side so the adjacend bird's mouth got pulled over to meet it. Or did it go the other way?

So, how stiff is your spar? Would you do it again? Think it would work for a small kayak mast instead of an aluminum spar?
