thanks again Shawn for bringing your experience and excellent drawing of the construction and assembly, I had heard of the bird's mouth method a few years ago for building spars but the ascii drawing that accompanied the post left me clueless (wasn't this board)and I like the oval which I didn't put in the ten sided sample because I only had a few strips And ripped it all the same width. still have to tweak the jig a little to give consistant results. I stacked two saw blades together and staggered the teeth now I should be able to put the cut where I want it in a single pass rather than using the dado blade that doesn't fit the table insert. I ripped some cedar this afternoon that was mildew stained, but I'm finding alot of that lately it has been so wet here all summer, I have a few more boards to try before I tear into that purpleheart. And Mikey I think your paddle blade idea is cool ... I was just tuggin' yer leash, I almost always learn something from your posts.. or at least entertained by them ;)
